New work with a classic look

As promised I'm back blogging here as well as tumblr after seeing the interest in this still despite the lack of posts. So I'm kicking off the mini resurrection with this gem from my shoot way back in September... bloody hell is it really that long ago?!

It's no secret that I love simple light set ups and black & white fashion shots, I'm also more likely to look back to the pre digital masters for inspiration... Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon to name a couple, Patrick Demarchelier is another who is still going strong today often uses just one light in an octabox, these guys are truly amazing and a big influence on me. This shot is not a comparison to their work in any way but if you know the photographers then maybe you can see how they may influence what I do and how I shoot.

This is Glasgow model Lauren Andrew (http://www.wannabeshe.com/), fresh off the back of LFW Lauren came to spend a day in Essex at the studio and for me I think this is possibly the shot of the day. A huge thanks to both Lauren and make up artist Suki Miles! Enjoy!

Next post will be on retouching or more importantly how I'm backing off on retouching for some work & will feature the first shot I've taken that I won't retouch at all, in fact it never even made it into Photoshop... the purest photograph I've ever taken!
