Beauty Up Close

I've wanted to shoot some macro beauty for a while & finally set one up on a shoot this week with make up artist Sandra Bermingham, we made it the last shot of the day with a really deep bergundy glossy lip & our model Eleanor had lovely hands so we brought the nails into the shot as well. This kind of shot is heavily dependant on retouching so a bit of vision is required beyond what you can achieve in camera, lighting and angles are key to get the best shape to the lip and subtle shadows just right but once the tweaking and adjusting is done, nailing the shot took just a handful of frames. Shot with a Canon 2.8 100mm macro telephoto lens and a gridded softbox just above the lens. We were all so happy with the result & it gives me a good platform to shoot more like it!
